Have you ever wondered what could help you create the future you want? What are your dreams? Sure, you have probably heard that you must be clear about your goals and yes that is the first step. You have also heard about affirmations and yes that is another very important step. Pin them up in several places so you can read them several times a day. Whatever you tell the brain often enough it will learn to believe.

However what many people don’t know is that the more senses you can use when you imagine your future, the more rapidly your mind will accept and work toward that future. It is not only important to think clearly about the future but also to read your goals and affirmations out loud. You must be able to hear the words as well, not just read them and see them. Let’s say you want a new house. Read your goal out loud. Then close your eyes. Visualize yourself in that future. Imagine the house in your mind with all the rooms and the furniture in detail. Touch important objects in your imagination. Only you know what they are. Look out the window and see the yard. Maybe there are roses in the yard. Smell them and touch them in your imagination – maybe even buy a rose and smell it. See yourself mowing the grass and smell the scent of newly mown grass. Eat an apple from your tree and taste it. Hear the wind in the trees. Treasure the feelings of relaxation, contentment, and happiness as you create your new story. Select an object that symbolizes your dream and carry it with you wherever you go.. Put it in your pocket. Touch it frequently to remind you.

Actually research indicates that using this technique, Olympic skiers who for some reason, like bad weather or travel, are not able to physically ski the slopes for a few days prior to the games do as well as those who have skied each day. They imagine themselves skiing down the mountain, see the tracks, hear the swish of the snow, feel the cold wet snow on their face, lean into the curves and feel their bodies move.

To help you to keep your vision clear you may want to create a vision board. It is probably one of the most valuable visualization tools available to you. This powerful tool serves as your image of the future – a tangible representation of where you are going. It represents your dreams, your goals, and your ideal life. Pictures and images stimulate your emotions… and your emotions are the “energy in motion” that takes you forward to accomplish what you want.

.How to create a vision board that depicts the future you wish to create.

Find pictures that represent or symbolize the experiences, feelings, and possessions you want in your life, and place them in your board. Have fun! Use photographs of yourself and others who can help make this a reality. Cut out pictures from magazine, draw pictures, find nature objects such as feathers, branches etc. Be creative. Use three dimensional objects. Make objects out of clay or play-doh, Glue or pin them onto your vision board to make your three dimensional picture come alive. You can touch them and feel them. This is very powerful.

If you include a picture of yourself in your board choose one that was taken in a happy moment. You will also want to post your affirmations, inspirational words, quotations, and thoughts here. Choose words and images that inspire you and make you feel good. I suggest that you avoid creating a cluttered or chaotic board… you don’t want to create chaos into your life.

How to use your vision board.

Keep your vision board somewhere where you will see it frequently. Spend time each morning and evening looking at it. Visualize, confirm, and internalize your desires.

The time you spend visualizing just before bed is especially powerful. The thoughts and images that are in your mind shortly before going to sleep are the ones that will replay continually in your subconscious mind throughout the night, and the thoughts and images that you begin with each morning will assist you in creating the future you desire as you go through the day.

As some time goes by, and your dreams begin to become real, look at those images that represent your success. Be thankful for what is happening in your life. Achievement of the goals on your vision board are great reminders of what you have already attained and seeing them will constantly encourage you to move forward.

Always remember, envisioning helps create clear goals and motivates you. but to make your dream a reality, you must take action.
